Masterpiece of Truth

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Memories

This evening, my community prayed at 5:30. We had one hour adoration of the Blessed Sacrament exposed.

During the time of silence, so many thoughts came into my mind. I look back at the almost one month of trying to get in touch with our classmates, visiting them, meeting several times and in different places. I look back at what I have done and said and there were things I regretted.

I stayed in silence with a heavy heart and it brought me back to my high school life. I was not happy during all those years. I don’t want to go back to the place much more to relive my memories about it. If not for the enthusiasm of Mac Francis, I would not have exerted so much effort.

It was with this spirit that I entered prayer. And the picture of Leandro and Kevin flashed in my mind. The caption in the picture was “Dad Boboy and Kevin”. I told Boboy that “you look like a loving Dad. I love that pic.”

But there was something more to that picture, in Boboy I saw Dr. Aguinaldo and with Dr. Aguinaldo, my experience with Papa.

You all know what happened to Papa those times of our high school years. Those were the most painful experiences that until now left a scar in my life. But there was one man in Kinoguitan who understood my pain, it was Dr. Aguinaldo.

During those times I was not allowed to see Papa. Whenever I go to Papa, I have to escaped from home or tell lies just to go and see Papa. Sarah and Tamboy would accompany me there. But when I go home Tiya Edik would scold me for several days without end.

There were times that my desires to see Papa was so intense but I could not go to see him, I would get sick. Then I would request for Dr. Aguinaldo. He would come and sit at the side of my bed and talk to me for 15 to 30 minutes. While talking he would caress my head and touch my hand. Then before leaving me he would inject something.

I often get sick and Dr. Aguinaldo will be there.

When I was in college, I was still sick but I don’t want to see Doctors in Cagayan. I went home to Kinoguitan only to find out that Dr. Aguinaldo was not there anymore. I went to Dr. Eduarte and he gave me medicine. But I told him that Dr. Aguinaldo would just give me injection. He said it was only distilled water that was injected to me. Simple fever or cough does not need injection.

Then I realized that Dr. Aguinaldo understood my need. I was longing for my Papa’s presence and that was precisely what he has given me every time he comes to visit me at home. His presence cured me.

He was not only my doctor, he was my friend. We exchange pocket books. He would lend me his books and I would tell him good books I read in the library.

This memory threw some light in the otherwise painful memories I have in Kinoguitan. The picture of Dad Boboy and Kevin reminded me of this memory.

I hope that this reunion we are planning will bring healing of wounds, joy, reconciliation, cooperation, love and thanksgiving.

See you there… in 2011.

Ang Saya Saya

We really had fun in the house of Rogelia. It was not easy to locate their house but finally we arrived in time for the snacks but since we were all hungry we ate immediately what was served. Then we opened the computer and Miloy and Ludy joined us through the webcam. We saw them and they saw us. We had so much fun. We got tired talking after several hours and started singing like drunks.

Take note of the picture posted before this message. Miloy and Ludy can be seen on the screen of the computer. Ryan, the handsome son of Rogelia, took our picture together with Ludy and Camilo to complete the barkada.

Welcome Ludy

I want to introduce Ludy, wife of Camilo. I forgot that we were together in the boarding house before. Edgar reminded me of her but I could not remember the face, sorry. Our bodies has changed a lot. Can you imagine how many years has passed and how many memories were erased by pains and sufferings! Talaga! Sarah remembered her too.

Miloy include her in our chat this Sunday. Okay? See you in Rogelia's residence.

Groupmail

Classmates,

I have created a groupmail site exclusively for all of us batch '78 who are planning to have a reunion coming 2011. For those who started communicating via email, I already put your email addresses on the list of members of our group. At the moment we are the only ones who can receive emails from the members of the group. (Namely; Sis Beck, Amie Pat, Angelita, Rogelia, Susan, Frank, Edgar T, Leandro, McFrancis and myself).

Please encourage others to submit their email address so we can add them as members of our group. Remember that only members (meaning, email address that have been encoded or added as members ) are accepted by the group email address: hchsbatch78@ yahoogroups. com . They cannot send straight messages to this group address unless they become members.

I made this to encourage everybody to become more active on this project initiated by Sister Becky about the batch reunion and may wish to interact to the group spontaneously. And also to eradicate a long lists of name recipients in the future when most of have already have an email addresses. Another thing also is that for those who are using cellphone with internet may take ages scrolling down the names before he/she can read the message.

In the case of Bobong whose time is always in the middle of the sea, I just have read his email saying that the groupmail may not work in his case as his ship's email address is common to all crews of the ship. All emails sent and received are filtered by his main office and they wouldn't come straight to their own email addresses. Maybe , Bong we can try to cc your ship's email addres and maintain the groupmail. We'll see if it works.

Guys you may still keep the individual addresses for what reason--tsismis. If you don't feel sharing the shshshshshsh keep it just for the two of you. But this site is a free wheeling kind of communication to be shared for everybody but more so for our upcoming batch reunion.

YOU mind bloggers, start publishing your blogs in the blogspot created by Sis Becky.

Sa muli,

Camilo

Sarah Araiz Borjal

Today Vigie, Edgar and I went to Cavite to visit Sarah. It was a real surprise. We could not get the contact number of Sarah so we took the risk of wasting our time and fare to go there even if she would not be around. We arrived at noon and Sarah was not there. But we did not wait for long. You can imagine what happened next.

The funny thing is there was never a conversation that was finished. We always begin with something new and something new as if we want to recall everything all at the same time. So I told the group to come early for the reunion this coming Sunday at the house of Rogelia Libot.

Miloy they requested if you could keep awake for a short while to chat with us during the day. Rogelia has 24 hours internet service. We will also create the email addresses of Vigie and Sarah. They can be maintained by their children.

Speaking of children, I have seen that the next generation has improved a lot. I have only seen handsome and pretty faces. Sana may magkasundo sa mga anak ninyo no? Posible kaya yon? Seguro mag reunion din yong mga anak ninyo. Wala akong isali. Di bale na, ako na lang ang mag organize.

You are all invited for the gathering this Sunday at Rogelia's residence. Welcome!

Bong, another schedule mo ito ha? Kailan ka ba talaga bababa? Ang daming naghihintay sa schedule na yan. Baba ka na nga.

Possible Gathering in Manila

There is a great possibility that we could also have a meeting here in Manila. I already met Virginia Acenas and was able to talk to Rogelia Libot over the phone. She will visit me tomorrow and she offered her house for a possible meeting here. I still have to contact Sarah with the help of Vigie one of these days. Please pray for this intention.

Upgrade Your Memory - This Time

Thirty Two years has passed since we sang for the last time the Pambansang Awit, marched to the narrow stage of an almost dilapidated building of our ( as I call it this time ) "dear Alma Mater", sang a couple of songs, received a piece of rolled white paper with ribbon tied on it ( and to myself ahem, with permission from Sister Becks, came up and down of the stage to receive the highest award of my pinaghirapan on our high school years - h'wag na kayong mag react), jumped for joy, making beso-beso and handshakings and bidding goodbye temporarily to each one of us.

Nobody immediately after the graduation ceremony dared to shout not even Bay Marcial who headed the platoons of young soldiers, not even Leandro who used to relay the command as adjutant, not even our own selves who at least equipped with little knowledge of "Where shall I go from here, What will i do after, How will I write or build my future" kind of questions.

So complicated thinking of the future ahead thirty two years ago. But this is it now, our future is what we live and what we are today. And let's all hope that there will be more future years ahead of us when we can turn it as our present .

But nothing is permanent except CHANGE as one school of thought maintains. I agree to that because I'm changed, and I think you all batchmates have changed too in any matter, in any situation,in any condition... I don't care because if you're really changed, I'm also changed...

You know what makes me change as different to most of us batch '77-78 guys is that all of you maintain your young image look as boys and girls of HCHS except for Marcial and Tamboy (dili na matago mga pare) but I am getting older, balder and greyer. Tigulang na gyud ko. Nagpabilin pa gihapon mong mga batan-on (again except to Tamboy and Marcial).

Thanks to the memories of the past kay nagpabilin pa gihapon mong mga batan-on sa akong panumduman kay mao ramay akong mahinumduman. Pero ayaw mo kay tanan sa atua. ako pa gihapon madumduman ang inyong mga nawong. Before we split up during our high school graduation tagsa tagsa ta namo gi scan ang inyong nawong sa akong memory kaya mga bata pa gihapon mo tan awon---mga bata ba- walay buot..he he he he he

Camilo

Second Meeting in Kinoguitan: March 26, 2009

Classmates,

The following attended our second meeting in Kinoguitan at around 2 pm: Tamboy, Denis, Danny, Edgar R., Felipe, Marcia, Erlinda, Amalia P., Lolita, Sol, Gloria, Mariel and Becks.

This time we discussed the project to buy piglets. Felipe commented that it is hard to raise pigs because they need cash everyday for the feeds. It will be difficult for them to sustain that project. He suggested that instead of piglets, we will buy a cow. It will be two years old by the time we will have our reunion. They will only pasture it and he volunteered to care for the cow until 2011.

The problem was the initial capital needed to buy a cow. I offered 3,000 for the piglets but we needed 6,000 for the cow. So I asked them to put up that afternoon the other 3,000. We had the following pledges: Denis 1,000, Amy Pats 1,000, Lolita 500, Felipe 250 and Tamboy 250. The target date to buy the cow is July - August. Denis and Felipe are the ones in charge of buying it.

Danny was forced by the group to donate a goat. He reacted towards the end of the meeting that he could not afford to buy one but Denis said the meeting is closed and only now you will complain? Everybody joined in and Marcia and Mariel promised to cook it. We already have calderetang kanding.

The ones designated treasurers were Marcia and Mariel. They will open an account in the bank. If you have donation please send it to Marcia and Mariel through Western Union. Please be guided that the full name of Marcia is Marcia Luisa Pamisa. Take note of that.

It is best to inform ahead in case you want to send money. Just get in touch with Becks in the email so we could facilitate the process.

It was also agreed during that meeting that we will donate brand new computers to our Alma Mater. But that would depend on how much money we will be able to raise until 2011.

We also agreed on the minimum contribution but the maximum will be up to the generosity of each one especially those who are financially blessed. At the beginning Denis suggested 500 but considering the status of some of our classmates in Kino we lowered it to 200. They have 2 years to pay that amount. Actually we thought everybody could come up with 500 but we do not want the money to be a hindrance for not attending the reunion. We also thought that those who are financially challenged might think that they could not afford the contribution so we lowered it to that amount.

With or without contribution please come. But if you have contribution give it ahead of time so we could plan on what to donate to our school. If you will give only on the day of our reunion, that money will already be savings for the next reunion.

Concerning the place, Marcia suggested that it will be in the beach but considering the situation of Denis, we decided that it will just be in the school.

So far this were the most important things that were agreed upon. Details of the affair will be discussed later.

For our merienda, Marcia cooked binignit again and Lolita bought drinks and a bottle of beer.

The next meeting will be in August. It will be Marcial who will preside it. The meeting will be held in the house of Bobong. That was a unanimous suggestion.

Agenda for the next meeting:

1. Follow up of the purchase of the cow.
2. Update of the classmates
3. T-shirt
4. Contribution
5. Agree on the next meeting

The following day, Monday Becks went to CMU to meet Amie Raf and Marcial. We had lunch together and we discussed the meeting in August. They are very willing to go to Kino. So I told Angelita that those in CDO can wait for Marcial and Amie at Puerto and go together at Kino. That would be great.

Bong ikaw ang taya.

Meeting in Cagayan De Oro March 25, 2009

Dear Classmates,

After the initial meeting in Kinoguitan, I went to Cagayan de Oro to contact our classmates living there. The first one I visited was Alicia Pisaras Pamisa. The sketch given my her brother was easy to follow but I still got lost. She lives in Cugman. I found her after several turns and she brought me to the house of Frank. I gave a copy of the cell numbers to Frank in case he has opportunity to contact them also.

Then Alice and I went to look for Susan Dangaso. We found the house but she left already for Florida USA last April 5. Then we went to Lim Ket Kai to look for Hendrick Rayos but we did not know what parlor he was working. We went to Nazareth to look for Angelita but it was already dark. We decided to part ways and went home. The following day I went to the Civil Registrar of the City Hall and I learned that Pura Fernandez worked there but was on leave.

The following day I went to look for Marjorita. I will not tell the place for security reasons. After three tiresome attempts to locate the place from the barangay hall, I found her. From there I proceeded to the barangay hall of Macasandig to locate the residence of Angelita Hallazgo Capinpuyan. It was easier to locate and it was timely that Angelita went home from school.

From there I went to the house of my aunt, Catalina Polinar Abe and stayed there until Pura fetched me in the evening. Catalina and I went with Pura and we had dinner with her family. It was in the house of Pura that we scanned the picture and the three of us emailed Mac Francis.

I scheduled the meeting in CDO on that Saturday. Meanwhile Frank went to Bukidnon and was texting Amalia Rafisura. They were both driving cars. They were texting all the time and finally met at some point in the road. But Amalia did not recognize Frank no matter how many stories Frank told him about our past, Amalia could not remember him. They parted ways but still Amalia could not identify who he was.

When they parted Frank called me up immediately and I texted Amalia that she met Frank. Amalia was so sorry but Frank insisted that she is already very "maarte driving her pick up". Frank told Amalia that he will only believe that she is not maarte if she will attend the meeting. Amalia was forced to go to CDO for the meeting.

The meeting at CDO was held at Manresa. Present were: Alice with husband, Marjorie with youngest daughter and two grandchildren, Frank with wife who did not join us, Angelita, Amalia and Rebecca. Pura and Catalina did not make it. I served binignit again with softdrinks but after the chica chica we decided to go out to eat. We shared the expenses: Frank 500, I put in 500 and Alice 200. We had a wonderful dinner for 10 people. What did we talked about? Just updating about our life, listening to the pains and joys, successess and failures.

Watch for my next mail regarding the second meeting in Kinoguitan. Very exciting.

First Meeting: April 19, 2009

Classmates

During the meeting in the morning of April 19, 2009, only six of us were there: Tamboy, Danny, Sol, Mariel, Marcia, and Becks.

We decided to go around and visit our other classmates in the afternoon to know why they did not come. Tamboy did not go with us anymore but Edgar Ramoso joined us. We hired a tricyle and we went first to Buko. We were so lucky to see Urbana Carmona Asetre who was there to visit a relative. We talked to her for a while and got her mailing address. She lives now in Lunao, Gingoog City. Then we visited Noe Basadre but he was not around; we proceeded to the house of Gloria Salazar Legaspi; then went to Esperanza to visit Amalia Patriana but she was not around. We proceeded to Bolisong and visited Erlinda Ignilan Bagotsay; we were able to talk to her. On our way back we visited Evangeline Igcalinos and got the contact numbers of Alicia Pesaras Pamisa, Maria Joncada, Victorina Clemens and Eva Paraguya Henricson. Then we proceeded to Sumalag and met Lolita Lacre.

Most of the reasons that hindered them to go for the meeting was the feeling of inferiority. They were ashame to interact with their classmates once again. The visit did a lot of good especially in bridging the long gap that already existed among us.

We scheduled another meeting for the following Sunday and during the weekdays I decided to go to Cagayan de Oro City to visit our other classmates there.

Becks, Marjorie, Marcia and Mac Francis

Classmates

I would like to tell the story of how we started to get things moving for this reunion. Several years back Marjorie and I agreed to start the ball rolling. I will organize and Marjorie will do the leg work.

I wrote two letters to Marjorie but I got no reply. I gave up the idea because I found myself so helpless without somebody in Kinoguitan working it out.

Last year, Marcia and I met at the house of our cousin, Atty. Orlando Polinar. She brought up the idea of a reunion and I told her that I am willing as long as somebody will leg work in Kinoguitan. She offered her services.

The first thing I asked her to do was to get contacts. I gave her my email address and cell phone number.

The first who contacted me was Mac Francis Eduarte. Still I was not so eager about it. But I was inspired of the insistence of Mac Francis. I was touched by his concern and desire to really come together. With all the stories we were exchanging in the email, I thought that it would be exciting if more and more of our classmates would get into the circle.

Thank you Bong. You inspired me.

Mac Francis sent me names of our classmates which I could barely remember and that was the data which I entered in the letters that I sent to Marcia to be distributed to all our classmates. Marcia corrected it and I kept communicating between Marcia and Mac Francis about the names.

The important content of that letter was the proposed initial meeting on April 19, 2009 at my residence in Kinoguitan.

12th wedding Aniversary of Edgar and Hope Tadulan

Congratulations to Edgar and Hope Tadulan for their 12th wedding anniversary. May the Lord strengthen the bond of marriage as years go by to overcome whatever difficulties that will come along their way. Rest assured of our prayers for your perseverance in loving one another to the end.
